Gabriel Pizzorno

Gabriel H. Pizzorno is Senior Lecturer on History at Harvard University, where he explores how digital technologies can help us better understand—and safeguard—the human past. His work combines history with artificial intelligence, using machine learning and data science to uncover stories often hidden in vast archives, from medieval Europe to the Holocaust. 

Pizzorno directs the Program in Digital History and serves as faculty chair of Harvard’s Digital Scholarship Group, coordinating digital pedagogy and research infrastructure across the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

A multiple recipient of excellence in teaching awards, his courses help students critically engage with the past while understanding the power—and limits—of today’s digital technologies.
